NEW YORK, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- A New York judge has thrown out an age-discrimination suit filed by an 85-year-old woman who sold beer at Mets games until she was replaced with a 75-year-old. But Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Joan Lobis ruled for the New York City Commission on Human Rights, which found it "highly unlikely" Aramark had discriminated, the Daily News said. The ruling said Block, who still works for Aramark at the new Citi Field, was replaced with Gloria Smith, 75. Come on, she was discriminated against. Ronald Reagan proved that you're a kid at 75. They replaced that woman with a mere child. Outrageous bigotry.
FEBRUARY 28, 2010 SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Democrats in Illinois say they have begun on open casting call on the Internet in search of a new lieutenant governor candidate. The Chicago Tribune said Friday the online campaign is oriented toward finding a suitable running mate for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn following the departure of Scott Lee Cohen, who was dropped as Quinn's running mate amid a scandal. Reminds me of the search for an actress to play Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind." They'll probably wind up with exactly the person the Chicago machine wants.
FEBRUARY 27, 2010 From AP: TRIPOLI, Libya — Libya's leader called for a jihad, or holy war, against Switzerland on Thursday because of its ban on mosque minarets — escalating a long-running diplomatic feud between the two countries. Muammar Qaddafi also urged Muslims everywhere to boycott Swiss products and to bar Swiss planes and ships from the airports or seaports of Muslim nations. Qaddafi will be defeated by the can openers in Swiss Army knives and by the dropping of tons of cheese with holes in it, right on his tent.
FEBRUARY 26, 2010 PRAGUE (Reuters) - A newly formed Czech travel agency is offering escorted trips for pampered toys. Send them your favorite animal and they will whisk it around the sights of Prague, taking photographs of it against backgrounds like Prague Castle or the Charles Bridge. Another "must have" for all of us.
FEBRUARY 25, 2010 NEWARK, N.J., Feb. 24 (UPI) -- Officials at a New Jersey airport said a security checkpoint was closed temporarily when a 25-pound cat crawled under an X-ray machine. Please be assured that the cat was read its Miranda rights.
FEBRUARY 24, 2010 From The Politico: Former Congressman and jailbird James Traficant will be running for his old Ohio congressional seat as an independent, according to CNN. Traficant, who served as a Democrat in the House from 1985 to 2002 (and in the big house from 2004 to 2006) casts the decision in terms of principle, but it was pragmatic, because he's got virtually no chance of winning a Democratic primary against incumbent Tim Ryan, a Youngstown Democrat. A despicable man, and convicted corruptionist. What do we tell our children?
FEBRUARY 23, 2010 From the great Nile Gardiner, in London's Telegraph: "The revelation that several Downing Street staff felt compelled to contact an anti-bullying hotline after suffering abusive treatment at the hands of the Prime Minister himself, raises further major questions over Gordon Brown’s fitness to govern." Are you believing that? The prime minister's staff members had to call an anti-bullying hotline? And Brown is a Labour prime minister. You know, the party of the working man. I'd love to see someone in the White House do this.
